ManufactureCT partners with community organizations to support STEM initiatives that also bring hands-on learning opportunities to children across Connecticut.
Today’s young builders, inventors, and problem-solvers are tomorrow’s manufacturers, engineers, and skilled trades professionals. Hands-on STEM toys help children develop curiosity, creativity, and confidence while introducing the kinds of thinking that drive Connecticut’s advanced manufacturing industry.
For many children, a STEM toy is their first introduction to engineering concepts, design thinking, and creative problem-solving. Those early experiences can spark interests that grow into school programs, technical training, apprenticeships, and careers in Connecticut’s advanced manufacturing sector.
That’s why ManufactureCT supports holiday STEM toy initiatives. By combining community giving with hands-on learning, these efforts help make STEM education more accessible while encouraging the next generation to explore how things are designed, built, and made.
Last year, ManufactureCT’s 2025 holiday STEM Toys for Tots celebration, for example, attracted manufacturing and supporting members, families, local legislators, education programs and community partners to collect STEM-focused toys for local children.
Complete with twinkling lights, holly, red bows, good food, and plenty of holiday cheer, the celebration reflected the manufacturing community’s belief that investing in young minds today helps build Connecticut’s workforce of tomorrow.

Our members and stakeholders understand that innovation begins with a sense of wonder and desire to ask questions about the way the world works. These principles can be instilled at every age, right up until a young person makes a decision to apply to a trade school or advanced manufacturing program. This makes STEM education throughout childhood a natural extension of the industry’s commitment to workforce development. ManufactureCT is committed to finding more ways to cultivate a spirit of inquiry and innovation that leads to more young people venturing into careers in our industry.
While the celebration itself was just one evening, its purpose reflects an ongoing commitment. By encouraging curiosity, creativity, and hands-on learning, Connecticut’s manufacturing community is helping inspire the next generation of problem-solvers, innovators, and skilled professionals.
